01 Overview: Contributing to a portal that's already live

Pulse is a live platform at Ramco Institute of Technology. Its public site describes it as the institute's live quiz and polling platform, where students join a session with a six-digit code and answer on their own phones.

My work on the portal covered implementing features, resolving bugs, and improving UI components and backend functionality.

02 Context: Working inside an existing codebase

A live portal comes with existing code, conventions and expectations. New features and fixes have to fit what's already there rather than start from a blank slate.

03 Contribution: What I worked on

  • Implemented portal features.
  • Resolved bugs in the existing application.
  • Improved UI components on the frontend.
  • Improved backend functionality.
  • Worked through Git and GitHub version control.

Built with

  • React.js
  • Node.js
  • Express.js
  • MongoDB
  • Git
  • GitHub
